Camp Karoondinha

It literally opens to a storybook perfect Boy Scout Camp with well-marked trails and beautiful scenery right out the front door. The camp, which is owned and operated by the Susquehanna Council of the Boy Scouts of America, presents the main entrance right off Thomas Dam Rd.

Built in the 1930s, it's an amazing little gem tucked at the foot of a mountain, with its own lake, lodge and sleeping cabins. Used extensively in the summer, it’s empty in the winter, the best time to hike its trails and enjoy its scenery. If stopped, just explain you are staying at the foot of the Order of the Arrow Field at an AirBNB and want to hike. They are more than friendly.

And don’t miss their Order of Arrow Ceremonies held mid-June through July on Wednesday evenings. The Order of the Arrow Field is on the other side of you Pinewood on Penns Creek–the lodge next door. Held weekly during the summer, the ceremony “taps out” young scouts on their way to making Eagle Scout. The field comes alive during the ceremony with hundreds of scout campers and their families, as they set a bonfire ablaze, and perform native American dances in full costumes. Book now to see the show! It’s free–all right here on Penns Creek.
