Fishing on Penns Creek
It’s world-class, and that’s not an overstatement
35 miles of trout fishing
Expect to find both stocked and native brown and rainbow trout in the big river and brook trout in the nearby small mountain streams that feed Penns Creek. The season opens in mid-April, and licenses are required. Check out rules and regulations here. Trout stay active until about July 4th and then come alive again in September. Smallmouth bass are plentiful year-round, although they really start hitting, particularly on the surface after July 1 as water and air temperatures warm.
Flyfishing
For beginner fly fisherman, Penns Creek offers the rare opportunity to learn and practice casting without fear of tangling.
