Amish Hay Market

It happens every Friday morning in Rebersburg, PA, a small hamlet just a few miles outside of Millheim. The Amish come together to sell fruits, vegetables and homemade baked goods in a wood barn before auctioning hay by the bale in its parking lot. 

Buyers are mainly English (Amish speak for the non-Amish) and it’s the best way possible to enjoy an authentic Amish experience during your stay at Oakwood on Penns Creek. Click here for directions. Things get started about 10 am. Anyone can attend. To bid, go to the back office and buy a number. Then, just raise your card to win a homemade pie or loaf of bread, or bunch of carrots or wildflowers. But be careful. You might be bidding on not one dozen eggs but 20 or more dozen. Best to watch first and get the flow. But the prices are ridiculously low and the homemade goods are delicious.
